The carmaker has been touting its variety of amenities as one of the many attractive selling factors for the impending 2022 GMC Hummer EV – its size, power, and speed.
Crab Mode, as well as driving modes like Watts to Freedom Mode and others, have made headlines. It’s all proof of how much time and work GM has spent into developing its “moonshot” electric pickup truck.
Doug DeMuro, in his assessment of a prototype of the Hummer EV Edition 1, goes into great depth about these peculiarities and features, and it appears that the crew behind the automobile was allowed to have fun creating it.

The Suggestion Box Button
The item that stands out the most, though, is a little button on the right side of the drive mode selector wheel that has no effect on the car. At least not right away.
The button is merely a suggestion box via which GMC encourages consumers to provide feedback on the truck and suggest changes that the business may incorporate and send out in over-the-air updates, which is a fun way to make owners feel like the company cares about them.
Although some of these characteristics may turn out to be gimmicks in the long run, the majority of them aren’t. Although Crab Mode isn’t particularly practical on the road, DeMuro claims that the four-wheel steering that enables it allows the enormous Hummer EV to have the same turning radius as a Chevrolet Sonic.

The features also add to the “moonshot” pickup feeling totally current and maybe even deserving of its astronomical price. Its design is well-executed, and its ride is both on and off the road pleasant, which helps explain the price. And, unlike previous Hummers, it has excellent on-road qualities.
“The ride quality is one thing that surprises me, especially in this car,” DeMuro adds. “This rides a lot better than Rivian, and it’s a lot more comfortable than that.” There is no doubt about that. It has the appearance of a premium automobile. “It’s amazing, really impressive.”
He decides that it is the most comfortable pickup vehicle he has ever driven. This is an impressive and, without a doubt, significant honor for the vehicle that is driving GM’s renewed commitment to electric propulsion.
