The Chevrolet Camaro’s sales may have dropped in recent years in comparison to the Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger, but make no mistake: it’s still a really amazing performance vehicle, especially in ZL1 form.
Rory Reid of Autotrader recently got the opportunity to try one brought to the UK, eager to discover what this monstrous muscle vehicle is all about. All Camaro ZL1s are wild, but the modifications done to this particular model make it even more so.
You might be forgiven for believing this ZL1 was a 1LE version based on its appearance, but it isn’t. Instead, it just has a 1LE’s front fascia, as well as the rear diffuser and carbon fiber rear wing. It also includes a new supercharger, revised air intake and throttle body, and a stage 2 3-port methanol injection system, according to the owner. The automobile now produces 770 horsepower instead of the factory-specified 650 horsepower.
The Camaro ZL1 is available with either a six-speed manual or a 10-speed automatic transmission. This car features a 10-speed automatic transmission, which, although not as exciting as a manual shift, looks like a fun to drive and, as you’d expect, loves nothing more than spinning up its tires and leaving thick black lines across the pavement.
